CMU College Chosen as Delegate on Mission to Los Angeles

To help promote Toronto as a world-leading centre of film and TV production, CMU College is honoured to join the annual Mayor’s Mission to Los Angeles from May 8 – 10 with several  key members of Toronto’s film and TV community.  

According to the City of Toronto’s press release, “The rapid growth of the screen sector in Toronto is a true testament to the diversity of talent and perspectives that we have here in our city,” said Mayor Oliva Chow. “I’m looking forward to leading my first business mission to Los Angeles to secure more investments in Toronto’s film industry and further expand our city’s reputation as a world-class screen production hub.” 

CMU College will be represented by our Senior VP, Deanna Cadette who has built a strong career in talent and workforce development in film and TV for more than 25 years. Prior to joining our college, Deanna served as the inaugural executive director of Warner Bros. Discovery Access Canada, director of the Bell Media/WGC Diverse Screenwriters Program, WGC cultural policy analyst, project lead with CBC Engagement and Inclusion and, early in her career, board and committee member with IATSE Local 667, Cinematographers Guild.  

“This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Toronto’s hardworking crews, our talent pipelines into the industry and the incredible community of makeup artists, including our CMU alumni and instructors,” she shared with the CMU Blog.
